Article From Haaretz gallery

I'm delighted to share this thoughtful review from Haaretz about the exhibition "If I was Body," currently showing at the Petach Tikva Museum of Art. The review particularly highlights my photography series, noting its meticulous composition, dramatic locations, and evocative use of lighting.
I'm grateful to curator Irena Gordon and museum director Reut Ferster for their vision and support in bringing this exhibition to life. I warmly invite you all to visit and experience the works firsthand.
The exhibition is showing till June 2025

from the article:

Merav Maroody's haunting and unsettling photography series contrasts the use of inexpensive props—plastic animal masks worn by her subjects—with dramatic selections of magnificent locations in Poland, remarkable use of lighting transitioning from grey afternoons to dusk and night, and impressive attention to composition. Beyond their relevance to the exhibition's themes ('hybrid bodies', alienation, animal versus human), Maroody's meticulous finish makes the photographs momentarily appear like AI-generated imagery. However, they are not, and thus their eerie yet touching humanity adds a layer of reflection on human-machine relations."
